Prescott University, 2003. Chemistry professor Dr. Eleanor Whitmore had spent four years documenting what Meridian Chemical Company didn't want anyone to know: that their pesticide AgriShield was contaminating groundwater and driving cancer rates to 340% above the national average — and that the company had known since 1998. One week before her national conference presentation, she was found slumped at her desk in Laboratory 312, poisoned via her own coffee mug. Her computer was wiped, her lab notebooks gone. The university's dean sits on Meridian's board and the company donates five million dollars a year to the school. A colleague was pressured into becoming an accomplice. The building access log shows exactly who was there the night she died — and the IT department recovered proof that someone deleted the security camera footage. In academia, the truth is the most dangerous thing you can publish.
